Garage Door Opener Replacement (January & June 2004)

We knew the garage door opener would eventually have to be replaced. We were right; during the winter the opener first stopped working when the temperature was too low, then the motor seized completely. We finally had it replaced after several months of operating the door manually.

Previous joy: ice maker
Next joy: water heater

Before

We purchased the new garage door opener and scheduled installation, then a friend helped us remove the old garage door opener (including the track). Both door openers are 1/2 horsepower and are Craftsman brand.

After

The installer came on the on the first day of reconstruction from our leaking soil stack incident. He assembled and installed the new opener in very little time, then also made some minor adjustments to the rails at the bottom of the door opening to prevent the door from rattling when it closed.
